Grounds In My Coffee- A Thanksgiving Tale

My husband brews a fresh cup of coffee for me every morning. To him, it’s an act of love for his wife. To me, it’s a warm, comforting beginning to a full challenging day. Always there for me like the oxygen I breathe.

We often take for granted those things we’re accustomed to don’t we?

Until one day, when there’s a crunchy addition of grounds in the mug. Or even, big sigh, a bug. Both have happened recently.

“First world problems” you may say. Yes it is. Yet take a look if you have the stomach for it at some of the vitriol on any social media network.

We as a nation have much to be thankful for in general. Given the division and hate being highlighted on our news and media outlets one might wonder the sources who might have a desire to sabotage the truth of this statement.

We enjoy a country that is primarily full of natural beauty. My husband and I are semi- retired and have enjoyed much of it in the national park systems, highways and byways of a rich heritage to preserve the land.

Our food supplies are some of the healthiest and varied in all of the world.

We live in a ‘melting pot’ of diverse persons and cultures. So that we can enjoy learning the lifestyles of different places all over the world right in our own backyard.

We’ve driven along the East Coast through the Southern states. As well as visited much of the West Coast from Los Angelos to Washington State.

We have found connections with fellow travelers. Most people are kind and good and want what is best for their fellow man.

My point? Don’t let the propped up, sensational, empty opinions of ‘faceless’ people online get into your mind.

If you do, all the good things we enjoy will become just another good cup of coffee.

Happy Thanksgiving Friends! May your coffee be strong and your troubles few.
